What do we use for treatments?
Osteopaths’ hands are their tools. They take advantage of their experienced hands when palpating and treating. At Life osteopathy, we also use dry needling, ultrasound and taping during treatments to help achieve the best outcome.
Dry needling: This is a sub-type of acupuncture that involves positioning needles into muscle trigger points to help relieve muscle tension and improve body function.
Therapeutic ultrasound: Is used to complement a treatment to help increase blood flow, decrease healing time, break down scar tissue and increase tissue healing. Usually takes 2-5 minutes
Resistance bands: Exercises using resistance bands may be prescribed during your consult. They are low cost and easy to use for exercise.
Taping: Both Rigid and K-tape are used in Life osteopathy. This can be used to either support or compliment the movement of joints, muscles, and tendons whilst you are recovering.
